Kalwang parish celebrates centenary event

Last Sunday, the parish of Kalwang celebrated a special event together with the local population, the many associations and numerous guests. The parish church's 332-year-old Oswaldi bell, weighing 1900kg, was returned after more than six months of restoration work.
In addition to the Abbot of Admont, Gerhard Hafner OSB, who blessed the bell, Prince Hans-Adam II of Liechtenstein, Hereditary Prince Alois, Princess Tatjana and Mayor Mario Angerer also took part in the celebrations.
In his sermon, Abbot Gerhard emphasised the great importance of bells for our country: "They call to prayer, they admonish the tardy, comfort the grieving, rejoice the happy and accompany the deceased on their last journey, in short: bells accompany our lives from the cradle to the grave."
The bell blessing and Holy Mass were followed by a cheerful get-together at the parish feast.
Next Sunday, 14 August 2022, the bell will ring again for the first time at 08:00 to call people to Holy Mass.
