El asentamiento en torno al paso fronterizo (Taurus Inferior) aparece en documentos de 1140 d.C. El nombre Thauern es de origen celta y significa \"un cruce en las monta\u00f1as\".\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A 1.274 metros sobre el nivel del mar, nuestro pueblo de monta\u00f1a de Hohentauern es el pueblo alpino m\u00e1s alto del Rottenmanner Tauern. Dos minas cerradas desde 1997 y 1994 respectivamente -de magnesita y grafito- dan testimonio de los valiosos yacimientos minerales de Hohentauern desde tiempos inmemoriales; la extracci\u00f3n de magnesita se reanud\u00f3 hace unos a\u00f1os a cielo abierto.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>La iglesia de monta\u00f1a con cementerio de monta\u00f1a de Hohentauern est\u00e1 dedicada a San Bartolom\u00e9 Ap\u00f3stol (el primer edificio de la iglesia data de 1363). La b\u00f3veda g\u00f3tica ornamentada y las paredes del presbiterio, el p\u00falpito de la iglesia y el altar mayor son de estilo barroco y presentan elementos tallados. Alrededor de 1885, el artista Siegmund Wagner cre\u00f3 cinco series de im\u00e1genes de los cuatro evangelistas y de Jesucristo como \"Buen Pastor\" en el p\u00falpito de la iglesia.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>El altar mayor, con sus bellas tallas (hacia 1750), se atribuye a Josef Stammel, escultor que trabaj\u00f3 en la abad\u00eda de Admont. La cruz de la torre con veleta data del siglo XVI. En la torre hay tres campanas. La campana m\u00e1s antigua de la torre fue fundida entre 1438 y 1458 por Hans Mitter, fundador de campanas en Judenburg (150 kg, 66 cm de di\u00e1metro).<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hohentauern fue elevada a parroquia en 1892 y la fiesta de la iglesia y del patr\u00f3n de la parroquia -San Bartolom\u00e9- se celebra el domingo anterior o posterior a la festividad del santo, el 24 de
