Il s'agit de Hannes Schwarz (1926-2014) et Gustav Zankl (*1929). Leur jeunesse a \u00e9t\u00e9 marqu\u00e9e par l'exposition \u00e0 l'id\u00e9ologie nazie. Ce qui les unissait tous les deux : ils \u00e9taient dou\u00e9s pour le dessin. En raison de ses talents, Hannes Schwarz a \u00e9t\u00e9 choisi pour fr\u00e9quenter une \u00e9cole d'\u00e9lite nazie. Sa formation d'artiste s'est jamais termin\u00e9e par la conscription dans une guerre brutale qui l'a confront\u00e9 \u00e0 la mort et \u00e0 l'agonie. Gustav Zankl, quant \u00e0 lui, s'est vu refuser l'entr\u00e9e dans une \u00e9cole d'ing\u00e9nieurs, pour cause de r\u00e9bellion. Les quelques ann\u00e9es de sa naissance ult\u00e9rieure lui ont accord\u00e9 de ne pas devoir participer activement \u00e0 la guerre militaire. Mais l'endoctrinement, les punitions en cas de comportement d\u00e9viant, toutes ces pressions psychologiques ont \u00e9galement laiss\u00e9 des traces profondes chez lui.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/section>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\t<section class=\"firepress-section firepress-content firepress-section--background firepress-section--background-beige\"\n\t\t\n\t\tdata-firepress-content\n\t\tdata-firepress-lightbox-group>\n\n\t\t<div class=\"firepress-content__inner\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"firepress-content__grid firepress-content__grid--one-half\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t<div class=\"firepress-content__box firepress-content__box--one\">\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"prose\"><p class=\"paragraph-m\">Dans les ann\u00e9es qui suivirent la guerre, tous deux d\u00e9cid\u00e8rent de devenir enseignants, professeurs d'art. Schwarz a enseign\u00e9 \u00e0 Weiz, Zankl \u00e0 Graz apr\u00e8s son activit\u00e9 d'ing\u00e9nieur. Et ils se sont lanc\u00e9s dans des activit\u00e9s artistiques. En 1953, une exposition du \"Junge Gruppe\" fut organis\u00e9e \u00e0 Weiz, loin de Graz o\u00f9 les descendants de la S\u00e9cession de Graz ne trouvaient pas de place pour le moment. A Weiz, leurs compositions abstraites furent tout \u00e0 fait rejet\u00e9es. C'\u00e9taient les ann\u00e9es suivant le r\u00e9gime nazi et la conception de l'art propag\u00e9e a eu des r\u00e9percussions.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-m\">Apr\u00e8s ces premi\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, ils ont continu\u00e9 \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper leur art. Dans les ann\u00e9es 1960, Hannes Schwarz s'est tourn\u00e9 vers la figure humaine, les horreurs de l'existence terrestre, la douleur, les angoisses, la blessure et la solitude. En t\u00e9moignent les images de l'homme souffrant et maltrait\u00e9 dans un lit d'h\u00f4pital sur un fond noir et vide. Ou bien il place des figures humaines assises \u00e0 une table ronde, \u00e0 une grande distance les unes des autres. Les corps sont couverts de cicatrices et de blessures. La s\u00e9rie \"Figur hinter Gitter\" montre des corps d\u00e9form\u00e9s et ensanglant\u00e9s derri\u00e8re des poutres noires. C'est cette exposition des hommes au monde qu'exprime dans ses \u0153uvres grand format ce Noir pensif, impr\u00e9gn\u00e9 des pens\u00e9es philosophiques de l'existentialisme. Pour lui, l'art est synonyme de recherche scientifique. Ses recherches sur les quanta de couleur se manifestent \u00e0 partir des ann\u00e9es 1960 par des objets d'art qui sont mobiles, comme les \u0153uvres du cycle d'\u0153uvres \"Cluster of Information\" (2007). Il s'agit le plus souvent de panneaux ou de corps en contreplaqu\u00e9 peints, dont les combinaisons de couleurs reposent sur des calculs pr\u00e9cis. La participation est le premier principe artistique de Zankl. Ses objets d'art doivent, comme il l'\u00e9crit, inciter les spectateurs \u00e0 \"agir\", \u00e0 \"\u00e9largir leur potentiel de sentiments et de pens\u00e9es\".<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-m\">Zankl a expos\u00e9 le \"Cluster of Information\" en 2015 au Hannes-Schwarz-Zentrum de Weiz. Ce cycle d'\u0153uvres a \u00e9t\u00e9 achet\u00e9 par le Stift en 2022 et l'on peut donc voir cette ann\u00e9e une confrontation des \u0153uvres et des diff\u00e9rentes approches artistiques des deux artistes styriens, ce qui illustre une nouvelle fois une id\u00e9e centrale de la strat\u00e9gie d'exposition des deux derni\u00e8res d\u00e9cennies : La mise en dialogue. L'art expressif rencontre l'art concret, tous deux ayant pour but de nous \u00e9mouvoir \u00e9motionnellement.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-m\">L'ann\u00e9e 2024 marquera le 10e anniversaire de la mort de Hannes Schwarz.
