Le prime monache provenivano probabilmente da Nonnberg, nel Salisburghese. Vivevano in una stretta clausura sulla riva sinistra del torrente Admont, fino a quando, nel 1144, l'abate Gottfried fece costruire edifici pi\u00f9 grandi con una chiesa a sud del monastero maschile. La gestione interna del convento era affidata a una magistra. Non solo lei, ma tutte le monache erano caratterizzate da un alto livello di istruzione, da una piet\u00e0 esemplare e da un'attivit\u00e0 letteraria, come dimostrano le numerose fonti.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-m\">Non solo componevano numerosi manoscritti nella propria biblioteca, ma avevano anche un vivace scambio epistolare, ad esempio con il prevosto Gerhoh von Reichersberg. Molti di questi testi sono stati conservati nei codici di Admont. Alcuni di questi manoscritti, oggi conservati negli archivi dell'abbazia, possono essere chiaramente attribuiti alla biblioteca del convento.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-m\">Sotto Christoph Rauber (1508-1536), abate di Admont, inizi\u00f2 il completo declino della comunit\u00e0 femminile, con l'impatto delle idee della Riforma. Le monache abbandonano il convento e si sposano; nel 1550 le donne in convento sono quattro, nel 1562 solo due. Nel 1570 il convento viene dichiarato inabitabile e nel 1582 l'ultima monaca, Benigna Zwickl, muore in una casa nella citt\u00e0 di Admont.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-m\">La mostra del 2023 non solo fa luce sulla storia del convento fino al suo scioglimento, avvenuto intorno al 1580, ma mostra anche i manoscritti magnificamente disegnati della produzione libraria dello scriptorium di
