L'insediamento intorno al valico (Taurus Inferior) compare in documenti del 1140 d.C.. Il nome Thauern \u00e8 di origine celtica e significa \"valico tra le montagne\".\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Con i suoi 1.274 metri sul livello del mare, il nostro villaggio montano di Hohentauern \u00e8 il pi\u00f9 alto villaggio alpino dei Tauri Rottenmanner. Due miniere chiuse rispettivamente dal 1997 e dal 1994 - quella di magnesite e quella di grafite - testimoniano i preziosi giacimenti minerari degli Hohentauern da tempo immemorabile; l'estrazione della magnesite \u00e8 stata ripresa pochi anni fa in miniere a cielo aperto.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>La chiesa di montagna con il cimitero di montagna di Hohentauern \u00e8 dedicata a San Bartolomeo Apostolo (la prima costruzione della chiesa risale al 1363). Le volte e le pareti del presbiterio, il pulpito e l'altare maggiore sono in stile barocco e presentano elementi intagliati. Intorno al 1885, l'artista Siegmund Wagner cre\u00f2 cinque serie di immagini dei quattro evangelisti e di Ges\u00f9 Cristo come \"Buon Pastore\" sul pulpito della chiesa.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>L'altare maggiore con i suoi splendidi intagli (1750 circa) \u00e8 attribuito a Josef Stammel, un artista dell'intaglio che lavorava all'Abbazia di Admont. La croce della torre con la banderuola risale al XVI secolo. Nella torre ci sono tre campane. La campana pi\u00f9 antica della torre fu fusa tra il 1438 e il 1458 da Hans Mitter, un fonditore di campane di Judenburg (150 kg, 66 cm di diametro).<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hohentauern \u00e8 stata elevata a parrocchia nel 1892 e la festa della chiesa e del patrono della parrocchia - San Bartolomeo - viene celebrata la domenica precedente o successiva alla festa del santo, il 24
