Un incendio devastante distrusse ampie parti della piazza del mercato e dell'abbazia, caus\u00f2 vittime e distrusse preziosi tesori d'arte - ma la biblioteca dell'abbazia, famosa in tutto il mondo, fu in gran parte risparmiata. 159 anni dopo, resoconti impressionanti e fonti storiche ci ricordano questo evento. Archivista dell'abbazia<strong>\u00a0P. Maximilian Schieferm\u00fcller OSB<\/strong>\u00a0descrive la catastrofe nel suo libro \"Der Brand von 1865 und der Neubau des steirischen Benediktinerstiftes Admont\". L'autore cita anche un testimone oculare dell'incendio, don Blitmund Tschurtschenthaler. \"In breve tempo, entrambe le file di case dal centro del mercato alla collegiata e anche la vecchia chiesa di Amandus furono avvolte da un mare di fuoco...
