V gospodarskem poslopju v sredi\u0161\u010du Admonta izbruhne po\u017ear, ki se hitro raz\u0161iri na sosednja poslopja in benediktinski samostan. 20 hi\u0161, velik del samostana z neprecenljivimi umetninami in opremo uni\u010dijo plameni, ve\u010d prebivalcev pa umre. Vendar pa je bila svetovno znana knji\u017enica v veliki meri re\u0161ena.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-m\">Danes, 159 let pozneje, benediktinska opatija Admont ponuja posebne oglede po\u017earne nesre\u010de. Izjava, ki jo je takrat podal kanonik, se zdi \u0161e posebej \u010dustvena: \"Danes, 28. aprila, Admont ne obstaja ve\u010d. Vse je zgorelo, razen knji\u017enice...\"<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-m\">Arhivar v opatiji<strong>\u00a0P. Maximilian Schieferm\u00fcller OSB<\/strong>\u00a0opisuje katastrofo v svoji knjigi \"Der Brand von 1865 und der Neubau des steirischen Benediktinerstiftes Admont\". Avtor navaja tudi o\u010dividca po\u017eara, patra Blitmunda Tschurtschenthalerja. \"V kratkem \u010dasu sta obe vrsti hi\u0161 od sredi\u0161\u010da trga do kolegiatne cerkve in tudi staro Amandovo cerkev zajelo morje ognja ... Nenadoma se je oglasil krik groze: Samostan gori!\"<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-m\">Izid po po\u017earnem kaosu: po petih dneh po\u017eara so knji\u017enica, kapitelj, nova stavba in zakristije ostali skoraj nedotaknjeni. Samostan se je zelo hitro odlo\u010dil za \"novi Admont\". V ta namen so poru\u0161ili ostanke srednjeve\u0161kih in baro\u010dnih stavb, za sodobni arhitekturni slog kolegiatne cerkve pa so izbrali neogotski slog. Knji\u017enica in zgodnjebaro\u010dna kapiteljska hi\u0161a sta ostali v slogu \"neumnega baroka\" - hvala bogu.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-m\">Nova kolegijska cerkev je bila posve\u010dena leta 1868.
