Tradition and Innovation

"Caring for the sick must come first and foremost!" It is therefore hardly surprising that the Admont Abbey Pharmacy can look back on a long tradition in which people and their health are the focus. Shortly after the founding of the monastery in 1074, a monastic house pharmacy can be traced in old writings, which was also used by the general population from the 15th century. In the years that followed, secular doctors and pharmacists found employment outside and behind the monastery walls.
