The Admont Abbey Grammar School

Ever since our monastery was founded in 1074, the Admont monks have been committed to establishing education in the region.

As a local school with a large catchment area, the grammar school endeavours to cater for as many talents and interests as possible and offers the following branches of education:

  • Secondary school with a focus on music
  • Secondary school with a sports focus

Realgymnasium (Scientific grammar school)

The type-forming specialisations in the Realgymnasium are geometric drawing and scientific exercises in the lower school and biology/physics/chemistry (with a science laboratory) and computer science or descriptive geometry in the upper school.

Musisches Realgymnasium (Artistic grammar school)

The musical training includes learning an instrument, choral singing and more music theory. Various choirs, a string ensemble and a big band orchestra round off this part of the programme.

Sports high school

The focus on sport at Stiftsgymnasium means a high-quality general education combined with a wide range of sporting activities. We utilise the infrastructural possibilities on the school grounds (e.g. gymnasiums, two sports fields, our own swimming pool) and the region.

Upper secondary school

With the appropriate grades, you can enter the ORG directly from secondary school from year 9. The focus here is on natural sciences - see Realgymnasium. This means you can graduate in just four years.

General information

The compulsory electives are offered and held in the form of semester courses from Year 6 to Year 8. Various non-binding exercises and optional subjects and the opportunity to acquire certificates (languages, computer science) round off the programme. The school also aims to offer pupils the opportunity to take part in competitions in various fields.
