It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Advent is the time of preparation for Christmas, the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
When a blanket of snow spreads over the Gesäuse and the quiet time begins, then the Christ Child is at the door. That is particularly noticeable in Admont because the anticipation rises with the Advent season at Admont Abbey. With lovely details such as the Christ Child's post office, the brass players, or the living nativity scene, the wait until the big day feels remarkably brief.
The Admont Benedictine Abbey looks mystical in winter. In this atmosphere, you can experience contemplative and moving hours within the monastery walls during Advent at Admont Abbey, which creates a wonderful ambience every year on the third weekend of Advent. Some look forward to the mulled wine, others prefer rye doughnuts or home-made sausages from the Grabnerhof farm - and still others have come to shop and find handicrafts, bonnets, candles, jewellery and much more!

An experience in a special ambience...
The special ambiance is one thing, but in addition, "Advent im Stift Admont" (Advent at Admont Abbey) also brings great tradition and a wonderful program with it.
Especially children look forward to the Christ Child post office, where they can send letters to the Christ Child and then look forward to a response. Moreover, the little ones can craft Christmas gifts in the museum workshop, admire the impressive Christmas nativity scene in the abbey church, ride ponies, and experience solemn church services to prepare for the Christmas season.
And you can also "taste your way through the Gesäuse" - with specialities such as Ennstal rye or Styrian cheese doughnuts, the popular angel curls or the Gesäuse burger.
