A total of 250 hours dedicated to exercise, health and fostering a sense of community
One goal. Hundreds of people. Countless moving moments.
Following the huge success of the 950-km anniversary run in 2024, Admont Benedictine Abbey, together with Admont Abbey Grammar School, is set to make its next sporting mark: On 22 September 2026, from 9 am, the abbey grounds will be transformed into a venue for community, exercise and enthusiasm. In the 250-hour run, it is not the fastest time that counts – but the shared goal.
Under the slogan „Making a difference together – achieving great things together“ Pupils, teachers, clubs, businesses, families and running enthusiasts from across the region are invited to come together to clock up 250 hours of running, thereby sending a strong message about health, solidarity and social cohesion.
„For almost 1,000 years, Admont Benedictine Abbey has stood for, amongst other things, connection, education and community. With the 250-hour run, we want to bring people of all generations together and show that exercise brings people together. Together with the abbey grammar school, we are creating an event where it is not personal bests that count, but team spirit, solidarity and the joy of achieving something great together. It is precisely moments like these that make a region strong.“ Mario Brandmüller, Head of Culture, Tourism and PR, Admont Benedictine Abbey.
The Admont Abbey Grammar School also plays a central role in this. As an educational institution steeped in tradition, it has been instilling values such as responsibility, community spirit and personal development for generations. The 250-hour run offers pupils the opportunity to actively put these values into practice and to become part of an extraordinary project alongside people from across the region.
Strong partners for a strong region
With Grazer Wechselseitige Versicherungs AG and Raiffeisen – in particular Raiffeisenbank Region Liezen – the 250-hour run has the support of two dedicated partners:
„Health is our most precious asset – and exercise is one of the most important ways of maintaining it in the long term. The 250-Hour Run combines health promotion with a sense of community and impressively demonstrates what people can achieve together. With GRAWE MyMED, our “Through health insurance, we help people to take active responsibility for their health and promote their well-being in the long term. That is why we wholeheartedly support this special initiative – as a symbol of more exercise, greater health awareness and greater community spirit," said Mag. Klaus Scheitegel, Chief Executive of Grazer Wechselseitige Versicherung AG.
Raiffeisenbank also sees the event as much more than just a running event:
„A partnership is demonstrated not only through words, but above all through what we achieve together. The 250-hour run at the Benedictine Abbey of Admont is a compelling example of this: people take responsibility for a shared goal; hundreds of individual hours of running and many small or even larger personal contributions come together to form a collective achievement that no one could achieve alone. At Raiffeisen, we are happy to support such special initiatives, because the idea of joining forces to achieve more is also in line with our own convictions. As a long-standing partner of the Abbey, we are all the more keen to help ensure that these many individual contributions result in something that has an impact far beyond the day of the event,“ so KR MMag. Martin Schaller, Chief Executive of Raiffeisen-Landesbank Styria.
