Abbot Gerhard - 25 years pastor of Admont
Sunday, 21 November 2021
On Christ the King Sunday, the parish of Admont celebrated a special anniversary. Abbot Gerhard has held the office of parish priest of Admont for 25 years. In a pontifical mass, he thanked God for this time. In his sermon, Prior Fr Maximilian described Christ the King Sunday as a "feast of identification". Based on Jesus' image of the "Good Shepherd", who takes care of his flock, follows them, guides and leads them, we Christians can follow our paths of life and faith. A fascination for Christ, our Lord and King, should occupy us throughout our lives and motivate us to infect other people with this fascination. Abbot Gerhard is a man who fascinates and can fascinate. With his joy of life and faith, he has an inspiring effect on many people, especially in the parish of Admont, which has been entrusted to him for 25 years. He accompanies people from baptism to the grave, emphatically and compassionately, understanding and listening. With many personal words, Fr Maximilian described the person of the abbot through their friendship of 20 years, which has always gone beyond mere confraternity.
Ad multos annos!
