Award of the Austrian Museum Seal of Quality for the Admont Abbey Museum
There is reason to celebrate in Admont: the Abbey Museum has been awarded the Austrian Museum Seal of Quality. The award was presented last week on 6 October 2021 in a festive setting at the Graz Folklore Museum.
For almost ten years, the Austrian Museum Seal of Quality has stood for high-quality museum work and user-friendly exhibition spaces. This seal of quality is only awarded to museums that have passed a special assessment procedure and are orientated towards international museum standards. Austria's most contrasting private museum has already proven more than once that Admont's Abbey Museum can score points in both national and international comparisons. In 2005, it was honoured with the Austrian Museum Award. In 2015, it was awarded the Austrian Museum Seal of Quality, which is valid for six years.
After careful examination, this seal of quality has now been extended: last week, on 6 October, Admont Abbey Museum was once again awarded the Austrian Museum Seal of Quality. Curator Michael Braunsteiner sees this honour as confirmation of the museum's high-quality work: "We look back with pleasure on the last two decades in which we have brought our museum to this outstanding level."
This level is also evident in the steadily growing visitor numbers: summer 2021 brought a record result for the Abbey Museum. "This year's August was the second-busiest visitor month in the museum's history. Almost 16,000 people visited us in this one month. That makes us proud," emphasises Admont Abbey's economic director Franz Pichler.
„We at Admont Abbey are proud to have been awarded this quality mark once again – a great deal of effort, hard work and care has gone into this, and I would like to thank all our staff for their dedication,“ said Abbot Mag. Gerhard Hafner OSB.
