The award has now been renewed for a further five years – the third time it has been extended – and confirms the museum’s high standards of quality until 2031.
On 14 October 2026, a total of 56 Austrian museums were awarded the Austrian Museum Seal of Quality in Eisenstadt. Among the award-winning institutions is the Museum of the Benedictine Abbey of Admont, which, with its world-famous abbey library and diverse collections, ranks among Austria’s most significant cultural sites.
Quality, responsibility and cultural heritage
The Austrian Museum Quality Mark stands for high standards of quality in professional museum work. In particular, it attests to the responsible conservation, scholarly management and contemporary presentation of cultural heritage.
Museums are far more than just places of the past: they are vibrant centres of education, the exchange of knowledge and social interaction. They spark curiosity, instil a love of discovery and forge links between the past, the present and the future.
For the Benedictine Abbey of Admont, the the third renewal of the Museum Quality Mark This is a special recognition of our ongoing and dedicated work, as well as the consistent development of our cultural programme. At the same time, it serves as an incentive to continue developing our diverse programme to the highest standards of quality in the future.
Warm congratulations to the Styrian museums
The success of other Styrian museums is also particularly pleasing. The Benedictine Abbey of Admont extends its warmest congratulations on the successful new submissions from the Eisenerz Tanning Museum, as well as the Alte Galerie and Eggenberg Castle, both part of the Universalmuseum Joanneum.
Our congratulations also go to those Styrian museums whose museum quality seals have been renewed: the Frauenberg Temple Museum, the Museum in the Old Armoury and the Kapfenberg Town Museum.
These awards are a striking testament to the diversity, quality and cultural significance of Styria’s museum scene.
Admont Benedictine Abbey is delighted to receive this special honour and sees it as a valuable endorsement of its commitment to preserving centuries-old cultural heritage, bringing knowledge to life and inspiring people to take an interest in art, culture and history.
