Healthy and energised for the new school year
Wednesday, 25 September 2019
The school buffet, run by Lebenshilfe Admont, was changed at the start of the 2019/20 school year. In accordance with the suggestions of SIPCAN (Special Institute for Preventive Cardiology And Nutrition), an institute commissioned by the ministry, foods with a high sugar and fat content were eliminated and replaced with healthier, tastier alternatives. Chocolate bars were replaced with trail mix, white bread and rolls with wholemeal rolls and donuts and muffins with fresh fruit and vegetable sticks. Not only the teachers, but also the pupils enjoy the nutritious, fresh and sustainable organic products every day.
The Stiftsgymnasium Admont is also taking part in a study on pupils' drinking behaviour, which will last until around Christmas. Following the evaluation, the drinks on offer in the vending machines will be changed. The aim of all these measures is to sensitise pupils and teachers to a healthier lifestyle. One consequence of this is the official SIPCAN certification of our school.
