Concert "CASULANA LUTE CONSORT" on Friday, 06 September 2024 at 19:00 in the Amanduskirche (Old Parish Church Admont)

"With their special expertise and skilful interpretations, the musicians stand for female presence and competence in the world of music." (Katrin Poese)
The Casulana Lute Consort is an internationally active early music ensemble based in Basel, Switzerland. The members met at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis and share the vision of reviving music for lute consort. Their repertoire ranges from the Renaissance to the early Baroque and includes works by the lutenist Maddalena Casulana. She was the first composer known today whose music was published in print. The Casulana Lute Consort's debut video with lute quartets by Nicolas Vallet was commissioned by the German Lute Society, and her lecture-recital at the Basel Lute Days 2022 also received great acclaim from international experts. With a madrigal arrangement, the ensemble dedicated its second video to its namesake and source of inspiration Maddalena Casulana. Future projects will take the musicians to festivals and concert series in England, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Austria and Switzerland.

With: Alice Letort (soprano and alto lute), Emma-Lisa Roux (alto lute, cittern and singing), Cornelia Demmer (tenor lute and
artistic direction), Talitha-Cumi Witmer (bass lute)
