25 May is all about wine
This day marks the commemoration of St Urban - the patron saint of winegrowers and vineyards - and International Wine Day.
For centuries, the so-called „Urbani Day“ has been closely associated with viticulture. The old farmer's saying is particularly well-known: „If the sun shines on Urbani Day, there will be a good grape harvest.“
It shows how closely nature, weather and viticulture are linked. In spring in particular, important foundations are laid for the quality of the coming wine year.
International Wine Day on 25 May also pays tribute to the long tradition of viticulture and the work of winegrowers. Wine has always stood for enjoyment, culture and socialising - and connects people across generations.
