Admont Abbey mourns the loss of Archbishop emeritus Alois Kothgasser

The former Archbishop of Salzburg, Alois Kothgasser, went home to God on the evening of 22 February 2024. In accordance with his motto, Do the truth in love, the Styrian-born bishop worked tirelessly for the people entrusted to his care. 

As Archbishop of Salzburg, Alois Kothgasser was one of the successors of Archbishop Gebhard, who founded our Admont Abbey 950 years ago.

May the merciful God grant Archbishop Alois eternal rest and may the eternal light shine upon him. Amen.
