Profession of Fr Rupert Schwarz OSB

Solemn (perpetual) profession of Fr Rupert Schwarz OSB on 29 August 2021

fr Rupert Schwarz OSB

fr Rupert Schwarz OSB was born in Salzburg in 1982 and baptised Martin. In addition to various other training programmes, our confrere studied church music at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and at the conservatory in Linz and was then employed as a church musician at the Maria Taferl Basilica in Lower Austria. Martin Schwarz followed God's call in autumn 2017 and began his novitiate in our community on 2 October. After his temporary profession on 22 September 2018, he began his studies in Catholic theology at the Benedict XVI University of Applied Sciences in Heiligenkreuz, which currently demands his attention. "When I joined Admont Abbey four years ago as Martin Schwarz and was given the religious name Frater Rupert, I had already known the monastery and the market town of Admont for some time. Now this acquaintance has become a familiarity and I am very happy to be here," said Fr Rupert in the run-up to his solemn profession. With his solemn profession, Fr Rupert is making a lifelong commitment to our community. He will be back in Heiligenkreuz in the autumn to continue his studies. After successfully completing his studies, Fr Rupert will be ordained a priest and will work as a pastor in the parishes of our house, among other things.
