Harvest and wine festival 2025

A celebration of gratitude and community

On Sunday, 12 October 2025, the Benedictine Abbey of Admont cordially invited guests to its traditional harvest festival. In the midst of the autumn-coloured landscape of the Gesäuse, this special day becomes a celebration full of gratitude, lively community and culinary delights.

A festival with a long tradition

The celebrations began at 09:30 with Holy Mass in the collegiate church, together with the local population. The harvest festival has its roots in early Christianity and reminds us not to take the abundance of the harvest and the gifts of nature for granted, but as a gift.

A particularly moving moment was the Farewell to Albert Wonaschütz, long-time director of the Admont church choir, be. With great commitment and musical passion, he has enriched church life for many years.

Abbot Gerhard Hafner emphasised:

"We would like to say a big thank you to Mr Albert Wonaschütz for his commitment in recent years and, of course, for this year's harvest and grape harvest."

He also referred to the abbey's wine festival taking place at the same time - another highlight of the day.
