On 21 March 2026, the Benedictine community celebrated a special and deeply moving event
Frater Markus Kraemer OSB made his perpetual profession in a solemn service. Numerous companions, family members, friends and many others came to celebrate and honour this important step together with him.
The festive liturgy was characterised by great inner density, joy and gratitude. In the midst of the monastic community and in front of the assembled faithful, Frater Markus promised to consecrate his life definitively and irrevocably to God and to continue faithfully on the path of St Benedict.
The importance of perpetual profession
Perpetual profession is one of the most important steps in the life of a monk. After several years of growing up - postulancy, novitiate and temporary profession - the monk makes a conscious and final decision in favour of monastic life.
Perpetual profession is the final and lifelong commitment of a monk to his community. After years of preparation, he makes a conscious decision to live according to the Rule of St Benedict. In doing so, he promises constancy, obedience and a life of constant spiritual renewal - completely devoted to God and the community.
These promises are an expression of deep trust and dedication: one's own life is placed entirely at the service of God - in prayer, in work and in life in community.
A day of joy and gratitude
The celebration was not only a personal milestone for Frater Markus, but also a celebration for the entire community. The large number of people in attendance showed how many people have accompanied him on his journey and continue to do so.
In the encounters after the service, it became clear how moving and inspiring this step was. Many took the opportunity to congratulate Frater Markus personally and express their solidarity with him.
Outlook
Perpetual profession does not mark the end, but the beginning of a new phase: a life of deepened devotion, faithfulness and spiritual maturation. The community is grateful for Brother Markus„ “yes" and continues to accompany him in prayer on his journey.
May God's rich blessing continue to strengthen and sustain him in the future.
