Corpus Christi
Thursday, 4 June 2026
On Corpus Christi, Christians celebrate that Jesus Christ is present in the Eucharist. The festival takes place every year on the second Thursday after Pentecost and has a long tradition in many regions.
The festive processions are particularly well-known: The faithful carry the monstrance with the consecrated host through the streets. The paths are often decorated with flowers, altars are set up and houses are festively decorated. People pray and sing together, demonstrating their faith in public.
Corpus Christi is a celebration of community, gratitude and joy. It is a reminder that God accompanies people on their journey through life and is close to them. The solemn customs make this day a special experience for young and old.
We show ourselves and others who we follow: Jesus Christ.
