25 years of apprenticeship training in the Admont timber industry
For 25 years, Admonter Holzindustrie has been consistently investing in the training of young skilled workers. The in-house apprenticeship programme was launched in 2001 – at that time still under the name STIA Holzindustrie – with apprenticeships in timber sawing technology, industrial electrical engineering and industrial metalwork. Today, six apprenticeship programmes are on offer, with around six young people completing their training at the company each year. In total, nearly 100 apprentices have already been successfully trained.
A key figure in this development is Christian Buchner, who has been with the company for around 40 years and was one of the first apprentice trainers. An example of the long-term career opportunities on offer is René Schager, who started as an apprentice in 2002 and is now a team leader in plant engineering.
The training programme is currently supervised by the apprenticeship trainers Roman Zandl, Marco Schönthaler and Christian Nistelberger. They combine many years of experience with modern, practical training, thereby creating the ideal conditions for the skilled workers of tomorrow. A particular milestone in 2018 was the award of the title „State-certified training company“, which confirms the high quality of the training.
Admonter Holzindustrie employs around 250 staff and manufactures high-quality natural wood products for the international market. Sustainability, regional value creation and the training of its own skilled workforce have been among the company’s cornerstones for decades.
Admonter remains committed to nurturing the next generation and continues to offer apprenticeship places as an electrical engineer, metalworker, joiner and joinery technician. At the Apprentices’ Open Day on Thursday 30 July 2026, from 12:00 to 16:00, anyone interested can find out more about the apprenticeship programmes and workshops. In addition, an apprenticeship combined with the Matura and the Dual Academy for Matura graduates are also on offer.
