12th Admont Lute Festival
From 26 to 30 August, Admont Abbey was entirely dedicated to the ‘Lute Autumn’. Participants made music together, learnt, explored and were able to experience the unique world of sound of the lute in all its facets.
On 30 August 2026, this year’s Lautenherbst reached its festive climax with the traditional closing concert in the Stiftskirche Admont. The concert, which has now become the highlight of the event, offers all participants a special platform: together with their tutors, they have the opportunity to present what they have worked on during the week to a curious and attentive audience.
The historic atmosphere of the collegiate church provided the perfect setting for the occasion. The musical encounters that had developed over the course of the days, the in-depth exploration of the instrument and the joy of making music together all found their resounding conclusion here.
The Lute Festival at Admont Abbey has once again demonstrated just how enriching personal exchanges between musicians, teachers and pupils can be – and just how vibrant the music of the lute remains even today.
A heartfelt thank you goes to all the participants, the dedicated lecturers and everyone who helped make these special days such a success. And, of course, to our enthusiastic audience, who supported the musicians at the closing concert with their attention and enthusiasm.
