On 29 June, the traditional Hemma Sunday, Admont Abbey not only commemorated Saint Hemma of Gurk, but also celebrated its annual parish and abbey staff festival. This special day was all about giving thanks - for the founder of the house as well as for all those who support Admont Abbey in its many areas with commitment, expertise and passion.
A particularly moving moment was the ceremonial farewell to Sister Friedburg, who retired after decades of conscientious service. With great respect and heartfelt gratitude, the community honoured the work of a woman whose quiet loyalty, reliability and dedication had shaped life in the house for many years. The entire foundation thanked her for her dedication, her faith and the human warmth that she gave to so many people.
The subsequent parish and staff party offered space for encounters, discussions and socialising. It was a sign of recognition for the valuable work that is carried out every day in the foundation's operations and areas - be it in pastoral care, education, administration, forestry, culture or in many other services.
The day was characterised by community, joy and the awareness of being part of a living, shared mission.
