Anniversary day of the Stiftsgymnasium Admont
"1074 - 950 years of a living monastery: I am a part of it": this was the motto of the double anniversary day of Admont Abbey Grammar School on 14 November. In addition to the 950th anniversary of the monastery, the school community celebrated the 380th anniversary of the school. The highlight was the Holy Mass with Diocesan Bishop Wilhelm Krautwaschl, Abbot Gerhard Hafner and Director Fr Thomas Stellwag-Carion. Fr Vinzenz Schager had prepared the service with his 3B class. The pupils freely asked the bishop their questions during the sermon, e.g: What makes a Catholic school? Everyone should learn to be more and more like Jesus and ask themselves: Is the other person more and more like Jesus for me? This was the bishop's answer. - The celebration was festively framed by the choirs and the big band of the grammar school. Afterwards, DJ Coverrun (Julius Zwirtmayr) encouraged the children, young people and teachers to dance the night away in the large ballroom: This was another way of showing that the Benedictine Abbey of Admont has been a living monastery for 950 years - To ensure that the school remains lively, the Abbot of Michaelbeuern and Abbot President of the Austrian Benedictines, Johannes Perkmann, gave the teachers valuable impulses in the afternoon. Ad multos annos: Until the 400th anniversary in 2044 and the 1000th anniversary in 2074!
