More safety on the Kaiserau: new route for ski tourers

New ski tour route planned

Thursday, 9 December 2021

A new route for ski tours has been created to protect reforestation areas and wildlife resting areas.

Being close to nature, fresh air, an impressive winter landscape and the fun of exercise - if you go on a ski tour, you can enjoy it all round. No wonder this sport is booming. Ski touring has experienced a real hype in recent years. Far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and the excesses of the coronavirus crisis, many people are recharging their batteries in the great outdoors. This is precisely what needs to be protected, which is why a visitor guidance system has now been installed on the Kaiserau, says Kaiserau Managing Director Mario Brandmüller: "We have adapted the existing ski touring route and created some new passages."

Several sections of track relocated

The route for ski mountaineers, which was created six years ago, leads from the valley station of the Brunntal lift via the Wagenbänkalm to the Lahngang and via the Kaibling-Gatterl and the toll road back to the car park. The basic route of the tour remains unchanged. Significant adaptations to the route have been made in sensitive areas above the Klinkerhütte and in the first section of the route. "The new route no longer runs along the ski piste, but parallel to the family descent. This reduces the risk of accidents and prevents conflicts of interest between skiers and ski mountaineers." The new route has been well marked and can already be used due to the massive amount of fresh snow.
