From the monastery nursery
Summer has finally arrived and we were once again able to draw on a diverse range, from tried and tested classics to exciting new products.
We are already looking forward to great results in vegetable growing, such as our tomato Tommy Sunshine, which we hope will be characterised by a large yield, and our balcony flower of the year, the dahlia Mama Mia. Its decorative flowers shine in a delicate pink and a radiant white, with a hint of yellow in the centre. As an attractive cut flower, in pots on the patio and in flower beds, its flowers, which grow up to 15 cm in size, are a delight.
The dahlia originates from a warm country - Mexico. It is important to ensure that the dahlia does not become waterlogged and that your soil is well-drained. The tubers are planted in April and begin to flower in July, delighting us with their blossom until the cold season begins.
When the icy season begins, the tubers are simply removed from the soil. The dried tubers are stored over winter in a humid and not too cold place.
