A huge variety of plants
The herb garden at Admont Benedictine Abbey - nature meets history
A place of silence, healing power and history: the Herb garden of the Admont Benedictine AbbeyThe garden, laid out in 1998 next to the idyllic monastery pond, gives a new lease of life to an old monastic tradition. Where once there was a baroque ornamental garden, a botanical variety modelled on medieval gardens is now growing - with Useful, medicinal and ornamental plants harmoniously combined.
About 1,000 plant species thrive in six carefully geometrically organised beds. Each field is dedicated to an important personality who is closely linked to the history of the monastery - such as St Benedict, the founder of the order, St Blasius, the patron saint of the collegiate church, or the scholar Abbot Engelbert von Admont.
A special experience for nature lovers, culture enthusiasts and anyone who appreciates the healing power of plants.
The Admont herb garden - a fragrant monument to the monastic art of living.
