Cycling elite starts 2020 on the Kaiserau

Austria/Kaiserau: Due to the lockdown, domestic cycling was at a standstill for a long time.

On the first weekend in July (4 & 5 July), the cycling athletes will be back at it again. The 4-part tour starts with a prologue on the Kaiserau.

"We are delighted to be able to support this event, which will enable us to draw attention to our offer at the Kaiserau through the cycling teams throughout Austria," says Mario Brandmüller, Managing Director of the Kaiserau. All races are organised as time trials on flat routes but also in the mountains. This race series makes it possible for local professional teams to present themselves to the public in Austria for the first time.

"This tour is very important for us, as we need to present our sponsors and also for our guys to perform as a team again," says Andreas Grossek, Sporting Director of Team Felbermayr Wels. Moran Vermeulen from Ramsau has only been part of the Felbermayr Wels team since this season. Since mid-March, his plans for 2020 have changed completely. "It's a really good feeling to be able to set sporting goals again and to be able to compete in his home country," said the professional cyclist about the start in his home country.

This tour is divided into two events (adult and junior) and means a lot of work for the organisers from the Ergo School Race association. The organisers are supported by a motivated 3-person team from the Liezen Commercial Academy. "It's great for us that a team from our school is helping to organise cycling events for the Ergo School Race association for the third time and is thus gaining important experience for the future," says Principal Wolfgang Lechner from the Liezen Commercial Academy.

At the end of this tour, which stops off at various locations in the district, the winner will receive a white jersey with the world's largest monastery library as a motif. The entire tour was presented at a press conference in the Stiftskeller Admont. Due to the current situation, spectators are not allowed to follow the race from the roadside.
