From 1676 there was a chapel in Wildalpen dedicated to St Barbara. Construction of the church, whose architect is unknown, began in 1728. There is a Pietá by Josef Stammel in the Benedict Chapel. The fresco decoration is dedicated to the Passion of Christ and was painted by Johann, Franz and Alois Lederwasch. The consecration day of the Wildalpen parish is 7 October.
The parish owns a Pietà by the famous sculptor Stammel, a portrait nativity scene (made 1972-1976) and a church painting by Johann Lederwasch (1784-86).
