Blessing of food on Holy Saturday

Blessing of food on Holy Saturday in the collegiate church

A wonderful and powerful moment in Holy Week - the traditional blessing of food once again attracted many believers to the collegiate church this year.

The church was filled to capacity, baskets were lovingly prepared and the community was palpable. Thank you to everyone who brought this special custom to life.

For Holy Saturday:

Holy Saturday is the day between Good Friday and Easter Sunday and is part of Easter week. It is a quiet day on which Christians celebrate the time of waiting and reflection on the suffering and death of Jesus Christ. Traditionally, masses are often not celebrated on this day and many believers spend it in silence and prayer. In some churches, Easter vigils are held in the evening to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. Holy Saturday symbolises rest and waiting for the resurrection on Easter Sunday.
