Marienleben im Stift Admont - Middle High German oratorio for soloists, choir, children's choir, orchestra and organ
Wednesday, 19 June 2024
Sunday, 23 June 2024 at 19:00 is the day:
A work commissioned by Admont Abbey as a world premiere, composed by Franz Zebinger, will amaze the audience. In addition to the special instrumentation, the old texts will be translated into modern German by narrator Nikolaus Lechthaler. Accordion, saxophone, hammered dulcimer and a large percussion section enrich the orchestral line-up.
Text passages from the rhyming poem of the same name by the Carthusian monk Brother Philipp can be found not only in the oratorio, but also in a preserved original manuscript in the monastery library.
The composer primarily set the loving relationship between Mary and her son Jesus to music in an arc of sound that stretches from the birth in Bethlehem to Mary's assumption into heaven.
A musical contemporary document in the 950th anniversary year of Admont Abbey!
