Ukraine war - our contribution to peace

Ukraine war - our contribution to peace

Wednesday, 16 March 2022

"A Christian can only be inwardly shaken when there is war." Abbot Gerhard Hafner.

We monks are responding to the current situation in Ukraine in three areas:

PRAYER!
St Benedict writes in his Rule: "When you begin something good, persevere in prayer to God that he may complete it." As monks, we pray daily for peace in Ukraine and in the whole world. We invite all people to join us in this prayer.

SOLIDARITY!
Since Ash Wednesday, our collegiate church has been shining in yellow and blue. The fact that the church towers bear the national colours of Ukraine is intended to express one thing above all: solidarity. After all, there are good links between our monastery and Ukraine.

HELP!
In addition to taking in refugees in flats and houses in our monastery, we also want to help those people who have remained in Ukraine. To this end, we have launched an appeal for donations. The money donated will go to the Greek Catholic Archbishop Volodymyr Viytychyn of the Ivano-Frankivsk Archdiocese in Ukraine, who takes special care of refugees and knows Abbot Gerhard personally.

You can donate directly HERE via our donation platform!

We support the Greek-Catholic archdiocese in Ukraine with the entire donation.

New impulses, inputs and current developments are constantly updated here.
