Exclusive partnership opens up new perspectives for students
Stiftsgymnasium Admont is now one of a handful of schools throughout Austria to enter into an exclusive educational partnership with the University of Leoben. This cooperation opens up outstanding opportunities for pupils in the sixth form to immerse themselves in the world of university research and teaching while still at school.
As part of this collaboration, the young people benefit from customised offers that go beyond regular lessons and the usual university programmes.
This allows particularly interested students to get a taste of lectures, visit laboratories and immerse themselves in research projects at Montanuniversität. A mentoring programme ensures that each participant receives individual support and targeted encouragement.
A particularly attractive element of the cooperation is that achievements made in the course of this programme are to be credited as ECTS points (European Credit Transfer System) for later studies at the University of Leoben in the final stage of the cooperation. This allows the students to gain valuable academic qualifications even before they graduate from high school and give them a head start for their further education.
„We are very pleased about this exclusive cooperation. It offers our pupils the opportunity to develop their talents at an early stage and gain a realistic insight into scientific work,“ emphasises headmaster Father Thomas Stellwag-Carion from Admont Abbey Grammar School.
The University of Leoben also sees this collaboration as an important step towards promoting young scientists. „Through programmes like this, we can get young people interested in technology, science and research at an early age and enable them to make a seamless transition from school to university,“ explains Vice-Rector of the University of Leoben, Prof. Thomas Prohaska.
With this partnership, Stiftsgymnasium Admont is positioning itself as a model school for STEM promotion and creating a springboard to an academic future for committed pupils.
