DVERI PAX - Gold at Decanter and champion title in Ljubljana for the best sparkling wine in Slovenia
The DVERI PAX winery, supported by the cultural and spiritual heritage of the Benedictine monastery of Admont, is continuing its impressive success story.
High honour for Dveri PAX
At the international top competition Decanter World Wine Awards 2025, the DP Brut 2014 was awarded a gold medal and an outstanding 96 points.
But that's not all: in Slovenia itself, DP Brut 2014 was once again honoured at the highest level. At the 11th Salon of Sparkling Wines in Ljubljana, in which all major Slovenian sparkling wine producers take part, our sparkling wine received the highest rating from the expert jury and was awarded the title of Champion. Two major awards in a short space of time - an impressive confirmation of DVERI PAX's consistent quality work.
Other wines also impressed the international jury of experts
- Silver medals went to the elegant Sauvignon Vajgen 2021 and the powerful, mineral Chardonnay Vajgen 2021.
- The finesse-rich Pinot Noir (vintages 2017 & 2020), the expressive Sauvignon Blanc 2023, the aromatic Gelbe Muskateller 2023 and the fine DP Brut Rosé were honoured with bronze.
This variety of awards impressively documents DVERI PAX's consistent quality philosophy and the great skill of a team that is dedicated to viticulture. The excellent rating of the entire collection once again emphasises the outstanding position of the winery in the Slovenian and Central European wine landscape.
"DP Brut 2014 is the result of ten years of patient, precise and passionate work. The decision to use a large proportion of the grapes for sparkling wine production in the difficult 2014 vintage was initially courageous, but has now proven to be extremely far-sighted. The grapes were harvested early and the base wine only had 10 vol.% alcohol, which resulted in an elegant and modern style with 11.5 % vol. after the second fermentation - exactly what many sparkling wine lovers are looking for today. Maturing on the lees for over nine years was not just a technological decision - it was a challenge that required trust, perseverance and total dedication from the entire team. Without the meticulous work of our employees in the vineyard and cellar, and without the support of the owners, who allowed us to wait for the right moment, this success would not have been possible. The 96-point Decanter award is not only a recognition for this sparkling wine - it is also an honour for the perseverance, knowledge and wine culture of Slovenian Styria." - Danilo Flakus, oenologist and director of the DVERI PAX winery.
