Collecting tradition
Admont Benedictine Abbey can look back on a long tradition of collecting items on natural history and art history. With the opening of the new museum in 2003, it has expanded its activities with a view to the co-creation and reflection on contemporary art in the future. The curatorial focus of the collection is on Austrian contemporary art, expanding it with international art and the targeted promotion of artistic productions.
special collections
Fascinating special collections emerge from the long-standing collecting tradition.
Individual works of art or parts of the collections are represented in national and international exhibitions time and again.
Admont Abbey began building up its contemporary art collection in 1997. To this day, works from purchases by galleries, from collections, directly from artists and also partly due to donations and endowments have been added to this collection. After only a short time, a new situation has arisen from the good and permanent contacts, primarily with Austrian artists.
