DVERI PAX scores at World Wine Awards

DVERI PAX scores at World Wine Awards

The wines from DVERI PAX won eight silver medals at the Decanter World Wine Awards.

Held for the 21st time this year, the Decanter World Wine Awards have established themselves as the world's largest wine competition. The results are based on a strict evaluation process that puts the world's best wines in the spotlight every year. These include the DVERI PAX wines from the Benedictine Abbey of Admont. The winery won no fewer than eight silver medals at this year's World Wine Awards. A rating that reflects the high quality of cultivation, production and flavour, emphasises Danilo Flakus, director and oenologist of the Dveri Pax winery. Among the award-winning wines is the Furmint 2019, now "our flagship", as Flakus emphasises. The Brut Sipon, 2019 vintage, also attracted attention with 93 out of 100 points.

Another milestone

In addition to highly awarded white wines, DVERI PAX also managed to win silver with a special red wine: the Pinot Noir, vintage 2021. For Admont Abbey's economic director, these awards are "another milestone in our centuries-long tradition of winegrowing", says Franz Pichler. This has its origins as far back as the 12th century. The vineyards were once cultivated by local winegrowers who produced mass wine for the monks. After being expropriated by the Nazi regime, the Admont Benedictines got their land back in the 1990s. Today, the Dveri Pax vineyards in Jarenina, Slovenia, just a few kilometres from the Styrian border with Spielberg, cover more than 75 hectares.

Award-winning wines in a gourmet restaurant

The award-winning wines can be tasted in the award-winning DVERI PAX restaurant, which is housed in the 450-year-old Jaringhof Castle in Jarenina, Slovenia. The wines are also available online at www.dveri-pax.com and directly at the winery, in the Monastery shop at Admont Abbey Museum, at Abbey nursery flowers + wine in Admont, Kastner and Eurogast Landmarkt Liezen and Schladming.
