The world’s oldest cake recipe

The oldest surviving recipe for a "Linzer torte" dates back to the 17th century, making it the oldest known cake recipe in the world. Four recipes, all of which have the name Linz in the title, can be found in the cookery book of Countess Anna Margarita Sagramosa (Verona) from 1653, which is now kept as Codex 35/31 in the largest monastery library in the world, the Benedictine Abbey of Admont.
