Holy Year 2025 - Pilgrims of hope

In our diocese of Graz-Seckau, there are 22 "churches of hope" that take up the themes of the Holy Year in a special way and offer numerous programmes. Bishop Wilhelm Krautwaschl has designated the Frauenberg an der Enns parish and pilgrimage church as one such "Church of Hope".

The priors of the Austrian Benedictine monasteries came together in Admont for their annual exchange meeting. Abbot Gerhard welcomed the priors of the abbeys of Kremsmünster, Altenburg, Melk, Göttweig, Lambach, St Lambrecht, Michaelbeuern, Admont and the subprior of Maria Roggendorf.

Bishop Benno Elbs from Vorarlberg celebrated the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary into Heaven in our abbey church on 15 August. We were a large worshipping community and the traditional blessing of herbs was also given. God shows in Mary what he has planned for us.

Yesterday we celebrated the Solemnity of Corpus Christi. Together with numerous organisations from the town of Admont and many of the faithful, we carried Jesus in the form of the bread in the monstrance through the streets of our town.

Yesterday evening, Abbot Nikolaus Thiel OCist from Schlierbach Abbey celebrated the monthly pilgrimage with us in the abbey church. On the 13th of each month, we celebrate a pilgrimage Mass with a candlelight procession.

Diocesan Bishop Wilhelm Krautwaschl came to the Benedictine monastery in Admont for the first time - a "premiere" - to confer the sacrament of priestly ordination: The date was the afternoon of 4 July, and the candidate for ordination was Deacon Fr Vinzenz Schager.
